Business Policies
2011 Update
This document is intended to outline the business policies and procedures used by Digital Media Memories.
Copyright Information: All images copyrighted by Andrea D. LaGrow, Digital Media Memories (DMM). It is illegal and unlawful to scan, copy, or reproduce DMM's work in any manner or medium and punishable by law with fines starting at $150,000. As an artist, DMM wishes to have complete control over the final look of our client's images, and scanned images damage our reputation as a photographer by distorting and devaluing the image quality.
Thank you for respecting DMM's work and livelihood by choosing not to reproduce our images.
Print Orders: Print orders must be made and paid in full at the preview session in order to receive special pricing. All other orders will have to refer to regular pricing. For those previewing online, the pricing portion of your online gallery expires within three days. It is highly recommended that you make your purchasing decisions within this time frame. If you would like to re-publish the pricing for your gallery, there is a $25 fee.
Exclusive Photographer: Please only bring the people that will be photographed to the session. Also, please do not bring your own camera, camcorder, or recording device to the session.
Before Your Session: Please be dressed and ready to go for your session. This includes hair combing and having accessories ready to go for the first outfit.
Final Prints: Your final print order will be delivered approximately 2-3 weeks after your previewing session. Canvases and specialty portraits may take up to 4-6 weeks. DMM will contact you by phone in order to set up a convenient time for your images to be delivered.
Portrait Care: Handle your portraits with extreme care. Damage incurred as a result of improper handling, framing or hanging is the responsibility of the client.
Retainer Policy: A non-refundable retainer of your session fee, currently $75 is due upon booking your appointment. This guarantees the time and date allotted for you. Should payment not be received in this time frame (or a reasonable time therein), DMM reserves the right to offer the date and time to another client.
Sales are Final: Due to the custom nature of each session, all sales final - proof books that are purchased are not returnable. However, we do guarantee our work. If you are not satisfied for a valid reason, we will work with you.
Designs & Cards: Three pre-made card designs will be shown to you. You may make up to three small revisions, any additional revisions will be charged at $50 per hour. For collages, if you’d like revisions after a collage or storyboard has been shown to you, you must first pay a non-refundable retainer on the purchase of a collage. No further revisions will be made without such retainer.
Retouching: Any retouching beyond the basic retouching we automatically do (small facial scars, blemishes, eye circles) will be charged a fee of $50 per hour. This includes braces, removal of logos/words on shirts, etc. We can do wonders with Photoshop, but just because we can doesn't mean we should.
Album Policy: Oftentimes DMM will show an image in both black and white, and color. When purchasing the session album, you will not receive both versions of an image; rather DMM will include whichever version is artistically more appealing.
Re-Shoots: Re-shoots are at the discretion of the photographer; and are not given for regretful personal choices such as hair and clothing choices.
Under the Weather: If you are feeling ill, please call to reschedule. DMM understands that sometimes, this happens. If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 48 hours before your session.
Travel Fee: There is a $25 travel fee for locations 30 miles outside of Effingham County or Chatham County. Oftentimes, if you can give us enough notice, or can find another client for us, this fee may be waived.
Payment Options: DMM accepts cash and checks. We accept credit cards through PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account in order to pay by credit card via the site and the site has bank-style encryption. We can also accept credit cards via Square over Android phones (again, this is perfectly safe.) You can read about PayPal's safety here and about Square's safety here.
Personal Checks: Checks returned by the bank, for any reason, will be charged a $25.00 service charge and all orders will be cancelled if they are not paid in full within three days of notification.
Usage: DMM reserves the right to use the negatives and/or reproductions for display, publication, or other purposes. Negatives and originals remain the property of DMM.
Reprints: All ordered images will be kept on file for one year after your initial order. All images that are not ordered will be kept on file for one week only. You are welcome to place a re-print order from the images you originally purchased. There is a $100 minimum on re-prints.
A copy of these policies will be sent to you when you make an appointment.
